Boosting Effectiveness in WOPs (BEWOP) is the objective of this new 5-year project by the same name, recently launched as a partnership between UNESCO-IHE and GWOPA with the support of the Dutch Government.
The 5-year research and outreach project will aim to strengthen knowledge transfer and change processes in WOPs in order to maximize the potential for operational improvements of water operators.
The partners will study WOPs and develop and disseminate resources to support their more effective design and implementation.
Throughout the fall of 2013, GWOPA and UNESCO-IHE have been hosting small consultative workshops at key events to seek the inputs of target audiences for BEWOP products. Events were held during Stockholm World Water Week and at UNESCO-IHE in September, and during the IWA Development Congress in Nairobi in October.
Twenty representatives from water utilities from throughout the Global WOPs Alliance will be convened just prior to the Global WOPs Congress and General Assembly at the end of November. These experienced WOPs practitioners will help to ensure that the activities of BEWOP are firmly rooted in demand and have clear practical value for WOPs audiences.
